GREEN ENERGY LABORATORY (EGT – 05)
Green Energy Laboratory is equipped with a wide range of equipment and technology to promote sustainable technology encompasses of renewable energy, waste-to-energy technology and fuel-cell energy. All of them are available for use by MJIIT students and researchers in UTM Kuala Lumpur. We also welcome other fellow researchers from universities and industries to experience and take the benefit of the facilities.
1. Waste-Energy Gasification System (power pallet)
The Power pallet is a complete biomass power-generation solution that converts woody biomass into electricity. Power pallet is operated based on 20 Kw rating using a GM industrial engine, paired with Mecc Alte AVR generator. The resulting combination delivers stable electricity from biomass I a variety of international power configuration.
2. Biodiesel Production Unit
3. Solar-Wind Power Technology Training System (Simulator)
4. Membrane Test System – 740 MTS
The 740 MTS is ideally suited for development of new ionomers and solid electrolytes. It offers rapid and accurate measurement of the through-thickness membrane resistance and conductivity as a function of temperature, humidity and pressure. The MTS eliminates the time consuming approach of catalyzing a membrane and assembling a fuel cell to evaluate the ionomer performance
5. Anaerobic Digester
The Anaerobic Digester is a two stage anaerobic digestion system and consists of two packed bed reactor with a capacity of 5 liters each and utilizes bio-balls as packing. It is designed to have a complete monitoring facility, including temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen and influent rate controllers that can undergo continuous operation up two weeks.
6. Redox Flow Cell Test System
The Redox Cell Test System is designed for research and development of all redox flow battery chemistries. The system includes independent, non-metallic anolyte and catholyte liquid reactant handling and temperature control. The core of the system is a complete electronics package to control and measure all systems parameters such as electrolyte flow rate and temperatures, while the integrated high-current potentiostat allows for cell charge/discharge cycling and performance characterization. Each unit also equipped with an impedance analyzer for Electrochemical Impedance Spectroscopy (EIS) and real-time High Frequency Resistance (HFR) measurement. Additional features include auxiliary voltage inputs for half-cell electrode and electrochemical state-of-charge (SOC) measurement.
7. Gravimetric Sorption Analyser
