Malaysia-Japan Industrial & Innovation Expo 2025 (MJIIX 2025) is an event organized by the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) which will be held on 14th October 2025. It serves as a strategic platform to strengthen collaborations between academia, industry, government agencies, and international partners. The program showcases research exhibitions, innovation competitions, industry engagements and collaborations, and knowledge-sharing sessions across various disciplines. The theme for MJIIX 2025 is “Academia-Industry-Agency: Expanding Horizon”

Background

MJIIT is a unique faculty in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Kuala Lumpur that brings together diverse fields such as Electronics System Engineering, Mechanical Precision Engineering, Chemical Process Engineering, Software Engineering, and Technology Management under one roof. Its research structure is built around specialized research groups known as lkohza, each fostering strong industry linkages in their respective areas.

Following the success of MJIIX 2024, which combined events like Japan Day and the Career Fair, This year, MJIIX 2025 will shift its full focus towards wider industry participation at the national level. The program will feature industry exhibitions, the MJL-JACTIM Research Competition 2025, a Coffee Talk session, Premier Lecture Series, dialogue/forums, and laboratory tours. This will allow industry partners to engage directly with MJIIT's research capabilities and facilities.

Key Objectives of MJIIX 2025

Strengthen strategic collaborations between MJIIT and multiple stakeholders including industry, government, and academic institutions.
Increase MJIIT's visibility and outreach to communities, other universities, industries, and relevant agencies at national and international levels.
Attract and foster industry collaborations with MJIIT's lkohza research groups.
Promote the research excellence of each lkohza to boost postgraduate enrolment and academic visibility.
Encourage healthy competition among lkohza to drive multidisciplinary and open research initiatives.
Provide a professional platform for young professionals to explore diverse research areas across various lkohza, and foster interdisciplinary collaboration and initiating inter-lkohza research projects.

Each lkohza research group will present its latest findings, prototypes, and technological advancements. This platform allows for visibility, peer exchange, and potential industry interest in commercializing or developing innovations. MJL-JACTIM Research Competition 2025

This open-level competition co-organized with the Malaysia-Japan Linkages (MJL) and the Japanese Chamber of Trade and Industry, Malaysia (JACTIM). The competition invites participation from researchers nationwide and serves to highlight cutting-edge research with industrial relevance and societal impact.
