Course Synopsis :
This course aims at addressing the principles and techniques of data management for forecasting various hazards and disasters we well as for disaster management. It covers a series of applicable approach to critically examining the important of data management and forecasting climatic, geological and technological disasters. The course emphasizes case studies, tools and key areas in comprehensive data management and forecasting that can be applied effectively for mitigation, preparedness, response, and recovery measures.

Yutaka Ichikawa (Prof. Dr.)
Professor
Professor Yutaka Ichikawa is a Professor at the Graduate School of Management, Kyoto University, Japan.
Dr. Ichikawa brings his extensive experiences as a researcher in the field of hydrological modelling, water resources, hydraulics, watershed management, engineering, applied and computational mathematics, civil engineering and water resources management.
Shuib Rambat (Sr. Dr.)

Dr. Shuib Rambat is a Senior Lecturer at the Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT) UTM Kuala Lumpur
Dr. Shuib research interests have been in the area of Development and Implementation of Low-cost Monitoring System for Disaster and Agricultural Applications and in Management and Administration of Marine Space, Asset, Hazard and Building by Using Deployment of Technology.
Dr. Shuib is a graduate of UTM (BEng Land Surveying, MSc Land Surveying – Remote Sensing) and Aston University, UK (PhD Engineering System and Management).
Samira Albati Kamaruddin (Assoc. Prof. Dr.)

Dr. Samira Albati Kamaruddin is an Associate Professor of Razak Faculty of Technology and Informatics (RFTI) UTM Kuala Lumpur.
Dr. Samira is the Deputy Dean (Academic and Student Affairs). She has extensive experience in various academic management posts, such as Academic Advisor, e-learning Coordinator, Out Campus and Joint Program Coordinator, Publication Committee, Academic Committee in faculty, Head of Hydraulics and Hydrology Laboratory, Head of Highway Engineering Laboratory, as well as Head of Panel for Geotechnical and Hydraulics in Civil Engineering Department. She also has experience in developing new programs and revising existing program of studies. She involved in quality assurance monitoring such as quality visit to colleges under joint program with UTM. In respect of her excellent service at the PPD, she received the Excellent Service Award from UTM in 2003.
Dr. Samira is a graduate of UTM (BEng Hons Civil Engineering, MEng Hydrology & Water Resources) and UPM (PhD Environmental Hydrology & Hydrogeology).
