Webinar Kesiapsiagaan Menghadapi Bencana Berganda: Pandemik COVID-19 & Banjir

The Disaster Preparedness & Prevention Centre (DPPC), Malaysia – Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur akan mengadakan Webinar Kesiapsiagaan Menghadapi Bencana Berganda: Pandemik COVID-19 & Banjir dengan tema Memperkasakan sains dan teknologi dalam program pengurangan risiko bencana, keselamatan empangan dan daya tahan komuniti yang akan diadakan pada 23 September 2021 menerusi platform WEBEX. Objektif webinar ini adalah seperti berikut:

  1. Memahami ancaman bencana berganda dan usaha-usaha kerajaan dalam menangani impak bencana berganda, serta peranan pihak-pihak berkepentingan;
  2. Meninjau isu setempat dan menerokai solusi yang kos efektif dalam menghadapi bencana berganda yang turut mengambilkira aspek keselamatan empangan;
  3. Menyediakan platform pelbagai agensi dan pihak pemegang taruh dalam memperkukuh kesiapsiagaan bencana dalam memberi tindak balas yang berkesan di semua peringkat agensi termasuk kawasan dan komuniti yang rentan;
  4. Memperkukuhkan pemahaman sistem amaran awal, komunikasi risiko, respon awal dan juga konsep ‘build-back-better’ pada fasa pemulihan yang pantas;
  5. Menilai tahap kesiapsiagaan agensi kerajaan persekutuan, kerajaan negeri, pihak berkuasa tempatan dan masyarakat yang rentan terhadap wabak COVID-19 dan risiko bencana banjir termasuk pengurusan risiko bencana yang berasaskan empangan

The Disaster Preparedness & Prevention Centre (DPPC), Malaysia – Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur will be organizing the Webinar On Sediment-Related Disaster Risk Reduction: From Mapping & Modelling to Early Warning & Mitigation with the theme Towards Renewing Our Commitments to UNDRR Sendai Framework For Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 that will be held on 29 August 2021 via ZOOM platform (FOR FIRST 100 PARTICIPANTS ONLY), DPPC Facebook Live and DPPC Youtube Live. In commemorating the 1996 Pos Dipang Tragedy that happened 25 years ago, on 29 August 1996 at 6.00 pm that killed 44 people and 5 still missing from Pos Dipang, Kampar, Perak, this program aims to achieve the following outputs and commitments:-

  1. To understand regional issues and global challenges related to sediment-related disaster risk, and to explore cost-effective solutions for preventing future risk;
  2. To exchange international best practices and national concerns in mapping and modelling sediment-related disaster (e.g. debris flow), designing the early warning system, and co-producing disaster mitigation and risk reduction strategies;
  3. To build up the scientific knowledge, innovation and education and strengthen the disaster preparedness for effective response at all levels;
  4. To develop a set of key recommended actions to strengthen debris flow disaster policy, technical solutions, and advocacy based on science and technology for building disaster resilient society;
  5. To explore new insights into co-developing a long-term strategic action and an integrated framework for sediment-related disaster risk reduction and resilience

Community-based Disaster Risk Reduction Program (CBDRR2021) @ Pulau Redang

DATE: 30 MARCH – 1 APRIL 2021

VENUE: PULAU REDANG, TERENGGANU

The Disaster Preparedness & Prevention Centre (DPPC), Malaysia – Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur will be organizing the Community-based Disaster Risk Reduction (CBDRR2021) program that will be held from 30 March until 1 April 2021 in Pulau Redang, Terengganu. It is a community empowerment program that aims to strengthening preparedness and resilience to maritime, archipelago and pandemic environments of COVID-19. This event will be jointly organized by National Disaster Management Agency (NADMA), Malaysia Civil Defence Force (APM), Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency, National Disaster Management Association (NADIM), UNHRD, Malaysian Amateur Radio Transmitters’ Society (MARTS) and the Deparment of Social Welfare. This event is supported by the Terengganu state government, Terengganu Tourism Department, Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM), Ministry of Health (KKM) and GPS Lands Sdn. Bhd. PHARMANIAGA, which one of the supporters of this event, will provide donation on healthcare equipments to all the local people in Pulau Redang for this program.
