Dr Ali Yuzir completed his MSc in Environmental Engineering from Newcastle University, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom and obtained his PhD also from Newcastle University in 2007. He completed his post-doctoral research at Newcastle University under Dr Paul J. Sallis in 2011. He started his career at UTM in 2002 and is currently an Associate Professor at Malaysia-Japan International Institute of Technology, UTM.
Dr Ali Yuzir has worked in different areas of Environmental Engineering and Wastewater Treatment. He has strong research interest in the field of water and wastewater treatment particularly in anaerobic treatment of various types of industrial wastewater. He is actively involved in various research projects namely The UTM-Pagoh Education Hub project, JSPS-ACS River Rehabilitation Program and several community engagement programs including the Global Knowledge Initiative (GKI) in Mersing, development of rainwater harvesting system in Mersing via collaborative work with UTM-UCTC and community involvement in Laos.
Besides being actively involved in academic and community activities, Dr Ali Yuzir is also a member of the Malaysian Water Association (MWA) and International Water Association (IWA).
