The Disaster Preparedness & Prevention Centre (DPPC), Malaysia – Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur will be organizing the  SENDAI 2030: DPPC WEBINAR SERIES, on Slope Sustainability & Resilience Program 2030, towards renewing our commitments to UNDRR Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction 2015-2030 in commemorating the 2008 Taman Bukit Mewah landslide in Bukit Antarabangsa on 06 December 2008 that will be held on 6 December 2021 via WEBEX platform.

The Disaster Preparedness & Prevention Centre (DPPC), Malaysia – Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur will be organizing the APEC Webinar Programme in Rejuvenating Cities and Resilience Capacities for Multi-Challenges of COVID-19 Pandemic, Extreme Weather Events and Climate-Induced Disaster (REJUVENATE-CITIES-C19) I EPWG 01 2020A that will be held on 13 October 2021 via WEBEX platform. In conjunction with the United Nations (UN) International Day for Disaster Risk Reduction which is held on 13 October every year, this program aims to achieve the following outputs and commitments:-

  1. To understand regional issues and global challenges related to multi-challenges of COVID-19 pandemic, extreme weather events, and climate-induced disaster in vulnerable cities;
  2. To build the regional and local capacity by reinforcing risk-informed decision making for action and realigning domestic DRR and resilience strategies;
  3. To build up the scientific knowledge, innovation and education and strengthen the disaster preparedness for effective response at all levels;
  4. To develop a set of key recommended actions to strengthen debris flow disaster policy, technical solutions, and advocacy based on science and technology for building disaster resilient society;
  5. To revitalize health-emergency disaster-risk-management (Health-EDRM) to prevent future pandemic risk in an extreme climate for societal transformation in the cities.

The Disaster Preparedness & Prevention Centre (DPPC), Malaysia – Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT), Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) Kuala Lumpur akan mengadakan Webinar Kesiapsiagaan Menghadapi Bencana Berganda: Pandemik COVID-19 & Banjir dengan tema Memperkasakan sains dan teknologi dalam program pengurangan risiko bencana, keselamatan empangan dan daya tahan komuniti yang akan diadakan pada 23 September 2021 menerusi platform WEBEX. Objektif webinar ini adalah seperti berikut:

  1. Memahami ancaman bencana berganda dan usaha-usaha kerajaan dalam menangani impak bencana berganda, serta peranan pihak-pihak berkepentingan;
  2. Meninjau isu setempat dan menerokai solusi yang kos efektif dalam menghadapi bencana berganda yang turut mengambilkira aspek keselamatan empangan;

In commemorating the 1996 Pos Dipang Tragedy that happened 25 years ago, on 29 August 1996 at 6.00 pm that killed 44 people and 5 still missing from Pos Dipang, Kampar, Perak, this program aims to achieve the following outputs and commitments:-

  1. To understand regional issues and global challenges related to sediment-related disaster risk, and to explore cost-effective solutions for preventing future risk;
  2. To exchange international best practices and national concerns in mapping and modelling sediment-related disaster (e.g. debris flow), designing the early warning system, and co-producing disaster mitigation and risk reduction strategies;
  3. To build up the scientific knowledge, innovation and education and strengthen the disaster preparedness for effective response at all levels;
