Towards Realizing Carbon Neutral Buildings – Recent research progress and policy implementation in Japan
SPEAKER PROFILE:
Prof. Hagishima graduated from the department of Architecture, Kyushu University in 1993, and received a Master of Engineering degree from Kyushu University in 1995. She worked as a government officer in the construction division of the University of Tokyo for two years. After this term, in 1997, she started her academic carrier as a research associate in Kyushu University. She obtained a Doctor of Engineering from the university and was appointed as an associate professor in 2005, and promoted to professor in 2015. She has worked actively in the research areas of urban climatology, wind engineering, and building environmental engineering. In particular, she has recently conducted a series of intensive field studies in Asian developing countries including Malaysia, Indonesia, India, China, and Mongolia, aiming to create smart and adaptive built-environments tailored to local context in collaboration with overseas institutes. In addition, she was appointed Vice President for Research and Gender Equality in October 2020, and has been engaged in various strategic planning of the university.
