DPPC coordinates national and international effort in building community resilience towards disaster by bringing together various stakeholders, policy makers, leading academic scientists and researchers in conducting multi-disciplinary applied research, training, and field practice in Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR) and Management (DRM). DPPC targets to assist in the global achievement of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development as well as the Sendai Framework for Disaster Risk Reduction (2015-2030) implemented and outlined by the United Nations.<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><strong><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">VACANCIES<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\"><strong>1. Research Officers (Hydrologist)<\/strong><br \/>Location: Kuala Lumpur<br \/>Department\/Office: Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Centre (DPPC), Malaysian-Japan International Institute of Technology (MJIIT)<br \/>Organization: University Teknologi Malaysia (UTM)<br \/>Start date: Immediately<\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\"><strong>a. Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">The research officer is expected to work closely with our existing project team and carry out the following responsibilities:1) Processing of hydrological data i.e. quality control of hydrological data, frequency distribution and development of IDF curve for an ungauged basin.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">Prepare various maps and figures such as spatial interpolation maps.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">Prepare written reports and presentations of the findings.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"text-align: justify\"><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">Perform any other duties as assigned by supervisor.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif;color: #000000\">b. Competencies and requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">Candidate must possess at least Bachelor&#8217;s Degree in Civil Engineering or equivalent.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">Familiar with ArcGIS or QGIS software.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">Familiar with MSMA 2.0.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">Meticulous and able to handle multi-function\/routine-tasks.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">Good interpersonal and communication skills and able to work independently.<\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<li><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\">Programming skill in C language will be added advantage.<br \/><\/span><\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000\"><span style=\"font-family: tahoma, sans-serif\"> <strong>c.
