Development of Action Plan for Multi-Hazard Risk Assessment and Disaster Risk Reduction for Sime Darby Plantation<\/h1>\n

As a result of extreme climate, rapid urbanization, and environmental degradation, it is crucial to better cope with the disaster capacity, assessing our increased exposure and vulnerability to natural hazards and evaluating new, emerging disaster risk in an objective manner. With direct economic losses worth about RM 6.1 billion as a result of large-scale disaster during East Coast Monsoon 2021\/2022, Malaysia has been increasing the level preparedness to cope with emerging hazard, systemic risk and compound disaster due to extreme
\nweather events and climate change.<\/span><\/p>\n

Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) and Sime Darby Plantation collaborated through a research project entitled “Development of Action Plan For Multi-hazard Risk Assessment and Disaster Risk Reduction For Sime Darby Plantation” over a period of three years. This high impact project will be co-designed, co-developed and co-implemented with the support of 18 multi-disciplinary experts, professionals, practitioners, and senior researchers, led by Disaster Preparedness and Prevention Center (DPPC).<\/span><\/p>\n
