JAPANESE UNIVERSITY CONSORTIUM (JUC)
Japanese University Consortium (JUC) Support to MDRM
The MDRM programme is supported by the Japanese University Consortium (JUC) that consists of over 30 top Japanese Universities. The DRM Sub Committee of JUC includes Tsukuba University (Chair), Kyoto University (Co-chair), Kyushu University (Co-chair), Yamaguchi University, Shibaura Institute of Technology, Kanazawa University, National Research Institute for Earth Science and Disaster Prevention (NIED), International Centre for Water Hazard and Risk Management (ICHARM) and Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA).
The JUC members dispatch renowned Japanese educators, researchers and practitioners in the field of disaster risk management to MJIIT to teach and advise the MDRM students. They also provide technical support to conduct MDRM projects and attachment programme in Japan.
In addition, the MDRM programme offers opportunities to collaborate with university and research institutes in Japan and other ASEAN countries through the Japan-ASEAN Science, Technology and Innovation Platform (JASTIP) (http://jastip.org/en/project/disaster_prevention/) and ASEAN University Network (AUN) administered under the JICA project, AUN/SEED-Net (http://www.seed-net.org/).
